Century Cricket is proud to welcome The Sailors, the first New Zealand-based franchise to join the Century Champions League, led by passionate cricket entrepreneur and coach Tazz Satti.

Based on Auckland's North Shore, Tazz brings a unique blend of cricket experience, business expertise and a commitment to developing young talent. As the owner and director of Tazz Cricket, an ICC-accredited cricket equipment brand, he has spent years supporting emerging players both on and off the field.

Now, through The Sailors, he's ready to create new opportunities for the next generation of New Zealand cricketers.

TAZZ SATTI AND HIS Lifelong Love of Cricket

Cricket has been part of Tazz's life from an early age. Growing up, he represented his region at Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 level, developing a deep appreciation for the game and the community it creates.

Today, his connection to cricket remains as strong as ever. Between coaching young players throughout the week and competing in Auckland's Sunday T20 competitions, Tazz continues to stay actively involved in the sport he loves.

What keeps him passionate?

"The unscripted entertainment, camaraderie and deep sense of community."

Why Century Cricket?

For Tazz, joining Century Cricket was about more than owning a franchise. It was about creating pathways for ambitious young cricketers.

After learning about Century Cricket through former professional cricketer Tarun Nethula, Tazz quickly recognised the opportunity the competition could provide.

"I was working with a few young cricketers who are transitioning into professional cricket. I thought Century Cricket could be a great opportunity for them."

The league's event-based format and multiple tournaments throughout the year stood out immediately, offering players more opportunities to compete, develop and showcase their talent.

Bringing Century Cricket to New Zealand

As the first New Zealand franchise in the Century Champions League, The Sailors represent an exciting milestone for both the competition and cricket development across the Tasman.

With junior and youth cricket thriving throughout New Zealand, particularly in Auckland, Tazz believes there is significant demand for more quality playing opportunities.

"A lot of kids train all year round, but the cricket season is only around five months. Century competitions will give them more opportunities to play."

His vision extends beyond simply fielding teams.

The Sailors aim to become a development pathway for aspiring cricketers, creating an environment where players can gain exposure, build confidence and continue improving their game.

"We are planning to run age-group teams under the Tazzmen Sailors umbrella, giving more exposure, a pathway and a supportive environment for young cricketers."

Building Something Bigger

Tazz has ambitious goals for his first year as a franchise owner.

His immediate objective is to have Sailors teams competing across every age-group event within the Century Champions League calendar.

Long term, however, his vision is even bigger. When asked what success looks like, his answer was simple:

"Transforming a local team into an international brand."

It's a bold ambition, but one backed by passion, experience and a genuine commitment to helping young cricketers reach their potential.

Looking Ahead

As preparations begin for the upcoming season, there's one moment Tazz is particularly excited about

"Sailors playing under lights."

It's the kind of image that perfectly captures the excitement surrounding the franchise's arrival.

From creating new opportunities for young players to establishing New Zealand's presence within the Century Champions League, The Sailors are ready to make their mark.

And if Tazz has his way, the franchise will become known for one thing above all else:

"A premier talent incubator, where you always want to be better than before."
